The Congolese Association for the Defence of the Right to the Truth in Memory of Innocent Civilian Victims (ACDDVDH) condemned on Tuesday the appalling murder of Dominique Sambwa in Kambove on Saturday 2 May 2026 under disturbing circumstances.
The Congolese human rights organization is demanding that a credible and thorough investigation be carried out into the murder and called for those responsible to be identified, brought to justice and held accountable for their actions.
The ACDDVDH expressed deep concern at the resurgence of crime in the major cities of the DRC, where criminals are said to be operating openly and extrajudicial executions taking place. It calls on the country to redouble efforts in strengthening security and to guarantee freedom of movement.
The organization also reminded the Congolese judicial authorities and the National Human Rights Commission of the long-pending cases for which the victims’ families are still awaiting answers : the double murder of UN experts Zaida Catalan and Michael Sharp, the murder of UNICEF aid worker Karinne Buisset, the murder of businessman Vally Amisi, and the massacre of civilians in Kasindi perpetrated by UN peacekeepers, whilst calling on the Congolese authorities to expedite legal proceedings in the aforementioned cases.
The ACDDVDH said that the victims of atrocities and brutal killings will only rest in peace once truth and justice have prevailed in their cases, the statement said. The DRC based human rights platform is led by Congolese activist Richie Lontulungu. Tamtam News
