The Congolese Association for the Defence of the Right to the Truth in Memory of Innocent Civilian Victims (ACDDV-DH) said wednesday 3 december it is closely monitoring progress in the peace process led by the United States and Qatar, which is expected to culminate in the signing of a final peace agreement on Thursday, 4 December 2025 between the DRC and Rwanda.

While welcoming the efforts to bring lasting peace to the African Great Lakes sub-region, ACDDV-DH said it opposes any peace agreement that sacrifices the hundreds of thousands of victims of the atrocities perpetrated since the start of the conflict.

ACDDV is demanding a peace agreement that fully integrates human rights and provides for mechanisms to ensure that perpetrators of human rights violations, war crimes and crimes against humanity are held accountable for their actions before an impartial and credible justice system that complies with international law.

Finally, ACDDV demands a Truth Commission in North Kivu and South Kivu for the victims and their families, without which peaceful coexistence will remain a problem within local communities.
